Drink Champs hosts N.O.R.E. DJ EFN take to Ohio in a new episode with Black Star, Dave Chappelle and Donnell Rawlings.
After being announced in May, the Drink Champs episode on REVOLT with Black Star, Dave Chappelle, and Donnell Rawlings has dropped. Arriving four months after being recorded in Ohio, the episode was temporarily held after recent mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde.
During the episode, which was filmed prior to both shootings, the conversation was held at The Shack in Athens, Ohio, two hours away from the small town of Yellow Springs where Chappelle and his family live. Since 2020, the comedian has also hosted “Dave Chappelle and Friends” cornfield shows at Wirrig Pavilion. Donnell Rawlings, who also stopped by Drink Champs performs often as part of the all-star “Dave Chappelle and Friends” lineup, which has included Tiffany Haddish, Louis C.K., Michelle Wolf, Michael Che, Erykah Badu, Common, Black Star and more.
In May, Black Star released their long-awaited sophomore album No Fear of Time on podcasting platform Luminary.
Chappelle gave N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN their flowers in the episode, also referencing their November 2021 interview with Ye.
“Pop culture is a desert right now, and your show is an anomaly,” Chappelle said. “And that Kanye West interview you did was one of my favorite things that I have seen in all of pop culture in recent history. Sincerely. I f*** with Kanye, but man, I ain’t seen him like that in a minute. It was funny. It was engaging. Then this n**** had in on Kweli’s hat.”
